My weekend fun was also at a great price!

JD and I went to the World's Largest Brat Fest on Saturday :) Let me clarify- the "world's largest" refers to the fest, not a brat. There was not a giant brat. However, the Oscar Meyar Weinermobile was there!

We ate some delicious Johnsonville brats, corn on the cob, and I had a yummy mango smoothie! We loved it so much, we decided to go back again for lunch on Monday! Memorial Day was a hot one in Madison- 89°! Luckily, I rubbed on the sunscreen. I missed a tiny spot on my neck and it was bright red by the end of the day. JD and I also visited our apartment complex's pool for the first time this season! We're hoping to spend a lot of time there in the next couple months. After experiencing my first Wisconsin winter (which, all-in-all is not that different than winters in Ohio), I am ready to bask in the sun whenever possible!

And so is my fur baby :)

fashion + fancies + award= long post.

I previously posted about my search for wedding guest outfits. I'm going to 1 wedding in July and another in September, which I will be speaking in. At my age, I'm hoping to look grown up, but still fashionable. I'm in the awkward too-old-for-the-junior's-section but too-young-for-the-women's-section stage. 70% of dresses I try on are too short. Others are too boob-a-licious. Here are a few that make the "photo sharing" cut!

    Photobucket
    (1) The "love child of a zebra and a cheetah" dress- H&M
Positive(s): I like how flow-y this dress is. The pattern isn't something I would normally wear, but the simple color scheme makes it a little less crazy.
Negative(s): The material is thin and silky which equals STATIC. I guess I could wear a slip...but does anyone younger than my mother actually wear those things??

    Photobucket
    [ignore the bra straps]
    (2) Color block strapless- H&M
Postive(s):  Versitile. Can be dressed up or down with several different shoes and accessories.
Negative(s): Boobs are shaped with wire and I don't exactly fill it out. May have to try a size down and hope that the waist still fits.

    Photobucket
[ignore the bra straps again...and the hanger loop]
    (3) Orange sherbet strapless- H&M
Positive(s): I love the unique color. I also love how I look in it.
Negative(s): Too dressy? & I don't think I would ever wear it again.

    Thoughts?

This weeks Friday's Fancies with {av} @ {long distance loving} is all about the 3-day weekend!

I'm a little sad I'll be missing the 73rd Annual Bloom Township Firefighters Fish Fry (in Lithopolis, Ohio). :( I've attended every single year for as long as I can remember.

But, my holidays (because what's the fun in celebrating just one day?) will be spent at cookouts & the World's Largest Brat Fest!

Johnsonville brats + corn on the cob + vodka&lemonade + music + sunshine (on Monday at least) = awesome.

Here's what I'd like to wear for the festivities:

The lovely Kristin @ Crown Jewells gave me my very first blogger award!!
It's so nice to know that not only do people read my blog, but they like it :) Thanks, Miss Jewells!
Playing along with the rules of the award, here are 10 facts about me:

[1] my wedding day is 10.1.11.

[2] i've donated my hair twice.
    Photobucket

[3] nacho cheese may very well be my favorite food.
     don't judge.

[4] i've never been outside the USA.
However, JD and I are headed to the Bahamas on a Royal Caribbean Cruise for our honeymoon!!

[5] i played volleyball in college.
    Photobucket

[6] i'm currently reading Bridget Jones's Diary (for the first time).
     haven't seen the movie, either.

    [7] i compulsively check my e-mail.
     like, way too often.

[8] my favorite ice cream is Oatmeal Magic Cookie (vanilla ice cream, oatmeal cookie bits, m&m's, and coconut.
Gypsy Joe's Ice Cream in Lancaster, Ohio

[9] my least favorite sport is soccer.
never had an interest in it. i don't know all the rules (besides the basic get-the-ball-in-the-goal and no-hands). and i have no control over my feet.

[10] my favorite quote is "There are many things that catch your eye, but few catch your heart- Pursue those!"
My daddy wrote this on a piece of paper and gave it to me when I was having a frustrating day. It's been my favorite ever since.

Annnnnd, now I'm passing on this award to 10 other bloggers! I love these ladies and always enjoy reading what they have to say :)

a walk down memory lane...

I'm currently obsessed with this combo of veggies and feta cheese: on pizza, with eggs, and I'm thinking with some penne pasta would be delicious!

Megan Dub-Yuh is hosting a fun link up- click the picture to play! She's asking for pictures of us bloggers from 10 years ago!

10 years ago I was 13 and it was the end of 7th grade.
I've found some pictures from the very last day of school:

My "boyfriend" at the time. Here we are again...

There were only 3 boys in my grade taller than me. I find this picture absolutely hilarious!
[not sure what was up with my eye...or my hair]

{one} what’s the worst date you’ve ever been on?
Probably the times when neither of us were really sure if it was a date or not. The bill and the goodbye were super awkward.

{two} if you could be any other person for one day, who would it be?
Lauren Conrad. From the outside looking in- it seems like she has a great life! And she has an awesome wardrobe :)

{three} what is your favorite kind of cheese?
Colby jack :) i like all kinds except for bleu cheese.

{four} do you remember your 1st grade teacher?
Mrs. Murray...I don't remember much about 1st grade, but she goes to the same church as my family so I've stayed in touch.

{five} who is the first person you call when you have a bad day?
    JD <3

{six} were you ever in a school talent show?
Yes! In 5th grade I played a piano duet ("Take Me Out to the Ballgame") with my friend. In 7th and 8th grade I sang with 3 other friends (Billy Gilman's "One Voice" and Lee Ann Womack's  "I Hope You Dance ").

{seven} who is your favorite fictional character?
Hmmm...I've spent several minutes trying to think of one and all I've got is Hermione Granger.

{eight} can you open your eyes underwater?
Yes, but I usually choose not too because the burning sensation makes me regret it later in the day.

{nine} do you look at the keyboard when you type?
Only when I'm using the number keys. I never learned the muscle memory for those.

{ten} when was the last time you took a nap?
Friday. I substituted in a 4th grade classroom and was SO tired that evening!

bike fail.

I realized last night that I haven't posted since Thursday. JD asked me if I was feeling okay! haha I've been keeping up with my blog reading, but have slacked on the writing part. Here's a mini update for you....

    [Friday]
We went out with some friends and I had several of these

    cranberry and vodka <3

    [Saturday]
JD and I purchased bikes about a little over a week ago. Mine was from Target, but his came from a secondhand store, so he had to wait awhile before it was fixed and ready to go. We picked it up on Saturday and went for our first ride! I had some trouble figuring out how to use all the "speeds", but it was a fun evening :)

    [Sunday]
I woke up in the morning unable to sit down without butt pain! Bike seats ("saddles" if you want me to be all technical) are NOT comfortable. JD convinced me to go for another ride anyway. Not even 5 minutes from our house, I hear the sound of grinding metal. My bike was falling apart! Luckily, nothing fully came out, but parts were loose. JD concluded that it was the ball bearings (I had no idea what he was talking about). My butt was thankful for the rest, but I was quite upset that my bike was going back to the store.
Note: JD said the problem was the manufacturer's fault, not Target's. The only reason we decided to go somewhere else instead of buying another Target bike was that this was the only size/brand that fit me in our price range.

We got our money back and decided to search at the secondhand store for a bike for me as well. We found one yesterday, but it won't be ready for pick up until June 8th :( I'll be leaving for a 12-day trip to Ohio that day so we won't be bike riding together until late June. Regardless, we're excited to make biking our "thing" this summer!

Hot Tub Time Machine has been in our Netflix Instant Queue foreverrrr and we finally watched it Sunday evening. Good movie! We were laughing the whole time.

    [Clothing Report]
      (1) I got my jeans back from the tailor and I love how they fit!! I will never not buy jeans again if the only problem is that they're too big around the waist. Tailors are magical people.
    (2) My yoga pants from Victoria's Secret arrived. They. are. perfect. Thank you VS for carrying 36 in. inseams :)

    [Beauty Report]
About a month ago I bought a 1 1/2 in barrel curling iron with hopes that it would give me hair like this
    picture found via Google Images

     or this
    picture found via Google Images

No, I don't want to be blonde ;-) I want those big, soft curls! More than waves, but a little less intense than spirals. The curling iron did not work out. Maybe it needed to be at a higher heat setting? I don't know. I've decided that I need to get some hot rollers, but this is a whole new territory for me so I need some advice! Is there one brand that's better than others? Will I be okay with getting a $25 set from Wal-mart??

I had heard negative reviews about Target's gift registry (not everything gets listed, doesn't update when someone buys, etc.), so we didn't end up registering there. Here are some things I would have picked:

Room Essentials Glazed Stoneware 16-pc. Dinnerware Set - Vintage Teal

    Wedding Rings 4x6" Frame

Spiral/Pearls Stemless Martini Set of 4

    Kinect for XBOX 360

Char-Broil® 5 Burner Gas Grill - Stainless Steel

    Room Essentials® Ogee Bedding Collection
